is a county of very great variety. It has several large hill ranges including the Mendips with the incredibly spectacular Cheddar Gorge, the unique watery Levels and lots in between. It has been lived in for a long time with many areas having civilaztions stretching over 6,000 years. It has many abbeys and the ecclesiastical centre of Wells, supremely mystical Glastonbury, the Georgian splendour of Bath and many rural wool towns.
