Around and About

The gothic Cathedral City of Wells and its surroundings has a wealth of historical and interesting places to visit, with Bath, Longleat and the coast all near by. The Crown is an excellent base for touring Somerset and its neighbouring counties.

Cheddar and Mendips

For the more energetic, the Mendip Hills beckon, with lovely walks through Priddy Forest, Ebbor Gorge with its own nature trail and of course, the famous Wookey Hole Caves and the spectacular Cheddar Gorge.

Glastonbury

To the west of Wells, Glastonbury and its Tor are set in the Vale of Avalon. The beautiful Abbey ruins, the legendary burial place of King Arthur, date from the 13th century.

Clarks Village

For the shopaholics amongst you the famous Clarks Village, a factory outlet precinct, is only a few miles away in Street!

Wells

More locally Wells has its own leisure centre, cinema and an 18 hole golf course with wonderful views of the Cathedral, where tuition can be arranged.
