Whether inside or outside, The Crown offers a choice of different dining experiences.

Anton's Bistrot

Our attractive restaurant is named after a well known cartoonist who lived locally and whose work was featured regularly in Punch magazine. Some of his original drawings fill the walls of our restaurant bar and lounge, where you can sit and choose from an excellent variety of mouth-watering dishes, extremely tempting desserts, complimented by our interesting wine list.

An à la carte menu served in the evening from 6.00pm. Our special Roultiers lunch menu is available from 12.00 noon Monday to Sunday. Two courses from £6.50 ~ three courses from £8.50.

We are vegetarian and child-friendly and happy to accept bookings for private parties/business functions.

The Penn Bar

It was from an upper window here that William Penn, a Quaker who later gave his name to Pennsylvania, USA, preached to a crowded Market Place from the upper window in 1685. He was subsequently arrested and put in the City's prison.

Our comfortable bar looks out on to the heart of the Market Place and so it is the ideal meeting place. Watch the bustle outside whilst enjoying a coffee, light lunch or cream tea. Or, in the fine weather, sit under a parasol in our courtyard and sip a cold drink in the sunshine.

Live bands/musicians play every other Thursday evening (Details available from the Penn Bar.)

The Grape & Bean

Adjoining the Penn Bar we have an espresso and wine bar, The Grape & Bean, with a selection of pastries and continental breakfasts etc. available throughout the day. During the weekend evening we serve an exotic choice of cocktails.

The Outdoor Café

When the sun is shining, the Outdoor Café opens for a variety of mouth-watering, alfresco appetisers with live music in the Market Place every Friday evening during July & August.
