Stratford-Upon-Avon
On the banks of the River Avon stands this the pleasant middle of England town. In 1196 it was granted the right to hold a market and it would have stayed a simple market town had it not been for a certain playwright being born here. Stratford has become a major tourist town, but it has remained relatively unspoilt and has a heady relaxed yet festive holiday-like atmosphere.
