KNIGHTSHAYES COURT

Description:
Begun in 1869 the house with its richly decorated Victorian interior is a rare survivor of the work of William Burges. It has one of the finest gardens in Devon.

LYDFORD CASTLE

Description
Standing above the gorge of the River Lyd, this 12c tower was notorious as a prison. The earthworks of the original Norman fort are to the south.

LYDFORD GORGE

Description
The famous gorge is 1.5 miles long and the walk starts high above the river, passing through the oak woodland before the path drops down to the spectacular 30 metre White Lady Waterfall. The path then proceeds along the enchanting riverside walk, through the steeply sided ravine.

Between Okehamton and Tavistock at Lydford, off A386 1 mile west.

Ar-Oct 10-5.30 Nov-Mar waterfall entrance as far as waterfall only (2 Nov-22 Dec Sat & Sun only)
