It has one of the finest gardens in Devon.

LYDFORD CASTLE
Lydford, Devon EX20 4BH
Description
Standing above the gorge of the River Lyd, this 12c tower
was notorious as a prison. The earthworks of the original Norman fort
are to the south.

LYDFORD GORGE

Description
The famous gorge is 1.5 miles long and the walk starts
high above the river, passing through the oak woodland before the
path drops down to the spectacular 30 metre White Lady Waterfall. The
path then proceeds along the enchanting riverside walk, through the
steeply sided ravine.
Location
Between Okehamton and Tavistock at Lydford, off A386 1
mile west.
