Battle Abbey

Description:
The abbey was built by William the Conquerer to atone the
terrible loss of life at the Battle of Hastings (it was fought here,
not Hastings). The site is dubbed the birth of England because this
battle formed the future of modern England and was henceforth ruled
under one king. Comprehensive exhibition and audio tour (of the
battle) plus special re-enactment events

Battle is a few miles north of Hastings on the eastern
edge of Sussex just off the A21 The abbey dominates the town at the
lower end of the High Street. Car park on site with pay and display.

Michelham Priory
