Elizabethan House built on the site of a Roman fort, with part of the Roman wall still visable. There are displays of Roman relics, plus collections of 17 & 18c farmhouse parlour & kitchen furniture. The art gallery exhibits contempoary works by artists and craftsmen.

Middleton Colliery Railway

Description:
The first authorised railway (in 1758), which then became the first to succeed with steam trains (in 1912). Steam trains still run every weekend
