The Monument
This tall tower commemorates the The Great Fire of London of London of 1666 which raged for several days starting in Pudding Lane and devastating most of the city. The spot, being near to the bridgehead of London Bridge is actually one of the oldest in London.

The tower has nearly four hundred steps (no lift) and is open to climb (admission about £1). However it is a long climb and not for the claustrophobic. Having completed the great climb you are presented with a certificate. Great views from the top.
