Grovesnor Square &
American Embassy The American embassy, built in the 1950's, occupies the west side of the square. Grovesnor Square originally was built between 1725 -1731 this was the second largest square in London and the centre piece of the grand Grovesnor estate. Residents of the square have included several Earls, Dukes, British Prime Ministers and American Presidents. During WW2 it became the U.S. military headquarters with Eisenhower's HQ at no. 20.
