Knightsbridge Named after the legend of two knights fighting on a bridge this little village between Kensington and London was renowned for duelling, its taverns and highwaymen. In 1849 Henry Charles Harrod took over a small grocery shop in the village. By 1880 nearly 100 assistants were employed, a few years later London's first escalator was installed and the present terracotta facade was built in 1904. Along with Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge has dozens of exclusive shops.	Knightsbridge Piccadilly line
