OSBORNE HOUSE
This was the result of Queen Victoria's
desire for a home of ones own.. Set in the tranquil
Isle of Wight, the house stands high over the Solent where
the mighty Royal Navy would pass on the way out from
Portsmouth. The great Italiante house was remodelled on themes put forward by Prince Albert, her husband. The Queen
died in the house after a long period of mourning and the
house contains a large collection of her belongings. It has
become the most evocative memorial to Britain's longest
serving monarch.
