Gloucester Gloucester (Gelvan) began as a Roman fort which guarded the Severn estuary and routes into Wales. (The city's main thoroughfares still follow the old Roman ones and meet at the Cross.) It was a fortified town in Anglo Saco times and residence of Angwin kings. Little remains of these ancient times but it does have a great cathedral, historic docks and a number of notable buildings. |

If you must know Cromwell Street is a run-down street, quite near the town centre. The infamous house has been bulldozed and has been replaced by this path -way.
