Guildford There were pre Saxon settlements here but it was in medieval times that a number of monarchs had palaces here of which little remains However the major art of central Guildford is 16c and 17c and there are many spots of historical significance including a Norman castle which has much older beginnings. The clock of 1683 dates the period and character of the town.
