Newport
This Welsh seaport
has its roots in a Roman past being the chief fortress of
the Roman second Augustian Legion. An amphitheatre built in
town became known as King Arthurs round table. Newport rose
to prominence in the 19c with it proximity to coal fields
and in 1839 it was the scene of the famous Chartist
uprisings.The population is around 120,000 and is involved
in steel and metallurgic industries. Newport is very close
to the M4
